Ford offered 2 newly designed inline 6 cylinder engines in 1965. The Cubic Inch Displacements were 240 and 300. The engines look identical from the outside. The extra displacement is gained in the stroke. The 240 stroke is 3.180", the stroke of the 300 is 3.980"

Ford Motor Company built one of the most dependable, rugged, versitile engine with the introduction of the Inline 6 cylinder engines. It is highly recommended that those with these unique trucks attempt to maintain the 6 bangers in their original condition and performance. Although, there can be some argument as to the performance comparison of the V8 engines, the Inline 6 cylinder engine still maintains good performance characteristics without the added weight of a V8 engine. Some notable drag strips have reported Inline 6 cylinder engine Fords with 1/4 mile, low 11 second e.t. October, 2000 issue of the Truckin' Magazine published an article specifically for inline 6 cylinder engine enthusiasts.
